MPs PRAISE KING FOR SELFLESSNESS im Swazi Observer

MEMBERS of Parliament( MPs) have praised His Majesty King Mswati III for being selfless.

The lawmakers said this after noting that the King abandoned plans of buying a jet, which was approved by Parliament last year.

This was after Minister for Public Works and Transport Lindiwe Dlamini informed the MPs about the latest stance taken by the King.

The minister informed them on Thursday during the debate of the annual performance report for the ministry. Dlamini said the King decided to use the McDonnell Douglas DC-9 (also known as an MD-87), that had been impounded in Canada. The McDonnell Douglas DC-9 was recently rehabilitated and brought back to the country. The King found it wise to use it and halt the processes to buy the Airbus A340300. An amount of about E96 million is said to have been deposited to buy this aircraft. This is the same plane that the King is said to have used for his latest trip to India.

Almost all the MPs that debated the works ministry budget said the King showed that indeed, he had the country’s interests at heart. They mentioned that the head of state was like a father who preferred his children had to enjoy their meals first before he could eat.
