Avocado reifen nicht am Baum

Four Avocado trees are found in my garden. The are really the best I have ever tasted. It is the season.

My German text reads like this:

 ".. sie hängen im Baum wie die sprichwörtlichen Trauben, ganz große Trauben, und nicht mal zu hoch oder zu sauer. Avocado sind besondere Früchte. Vor allem - gesund und deshalb teuer in deutschen Bioläden. Hier pflücke ich sie reif. Reif? Avocado reifen nicht am Baum!

Avocado fruits ripen after picking, thus they will remain hard while in the tree. Mature or fully developed fruits will ripen evenly, the flesh acquires a smooth buttery texture and the skin shows no sign of shriveling.
Store the fruit at room temperature until it ripens. If the fruit ripens within 8 – 10 days and shows no sign of shriveling, the fruit is considered mature.
In harvesting, the fruit should be cut off and not pulled from the tree. *
